Set it and forget it

The easiest accent lighting is the kind you never think about. Schedule your lights to turn on at sunset and off at a time you choose, using recurring schedules and sunrise and sunset timers. When you are traveling, check in or adjust the lights from your phone, since the system is cloud based. Voice control through Alexa, Google Assistant, Siri and Control4 handles the occasional change of plans.

Energy use is modest. Each light draws under one watt, and a typical system of around 250 lights uses about as much power as five household bulbs. The app has no subscription fee, and every available feature is included.

Planning your accent lighting
